Choose the languages Anders speaks
Pick up to 5 languages for your caller menu. Callers press a digit and the whole call happens in their language, from the greeting to the follow-up text.
Anders can answer callers in their own language. Open Anders → Channels → Languages to set up the Caller language menu: pick up to 5 languages from the list of 18, and callers press a digit to choose theirs. The whole call then happens in that language, including the greeting, conversation, and follow-up text.
Before you begin
- You need to be an owner or manager.
- A language menu needs at least two languages.
- With the menu off, calls go straight to your AI in the default language. It still auto-detects and switches if a caller speaks another language mid-call.
Steps
- Open Anders → Channels → Languages.
- Turn on Offer a language menu.
- Under Add languages, check the languages you want, up to 5.
- In Your caller menu, drag the cards into order. Callers hear "press 1, press 2" in this order, so put your most common languages first.
- Set the Default language. It's used when a caller doesn't press anything, and for all calls when the menu is off. The default has to be one of the menu languages.
- Choose Hear the menu to listen to a preview with your current order before saving.
- Choose Save languages. You'll see a note that your menu audio is being regenerated; it's live within a minute.
What happens next
Callers hear the menu first, pick a language, and everything that follows stays in it: the greeting (including the required disclosure), the whole conversation, and any text the AI sends after the call. Transcripts in your Inbox keep the spoken language, with a translation alongside when it differs from your app language.
This setting only affects what callers hear. The language of your own dashboard is a separate setting, covered in the guide below.
If it does not work
- If you can't save, check the two rules: at least two languages on a menu, and the default language must be on the menu.
- If the preview fails, choose Hear the menu again in a moment.
- If callers still hear the old menu right after saving, wait a minute; the audio regenerates in the background.
