Block a caller

Block a caller from their contact card so their calls are rejected before your AI answers. Blocking covers calls only, not texts.

You block a caller from their contact card in Contacts. Blocked callers are rejected before your AI answers: the call never connects and nothing is recorded.

Before you begin

  • Blocking works on calls only right now. A blocked caller can still text you, and their texts still land in your Inbox.
  • The person needs a contact card. If they aren't saved yet, open one of their conversations and tap Add to contacts first.

Steps

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Pick the person you want to block.
  3. On their card, turn on Block this caller. You can also open the card's Contact actions menu and choose Block contact.
  4. The card now shows a Blocked badge, and the contact moves to the Blocked view in the list.

What happens next

  • The next time this person calls, the call is rejected before your AI picks up. It never connects, nothing is recorded, and nothing new appears in your Inbox for that call.
  • Their past conversations stay in your Inbox. Blocking doesn't delete anything.
  • Texts are not blocked. If they text you, the message still arrives.

Unblock someone

  1. In Contacts, switch to the Blocked view.
  2. Pick the contact.
  3. Turn off Block this caller, or choose Unblock contact from the Contact actions menu.

Their calls ring through to your AI again right away.

If it does not work

  • Blocking matches the contact's phone number. If the person calls from a different number, that call still gets through. Block the new number too.
  • If you meant to stop junk calls in general, RankLadder already screens spam for you. See the spam guide below.
