Set up your business with the setup wizard
The setup wizard prepares your AI receptionist in about five minutes. Add your business info, review what RankLadder learned, pick your number and voice, and try a practice call.
The setup wizard opens right after you activate your trial. It takes about five minutes, and your progress is saved. You can close it and pick up where you left off.
Setup is self-service and does not require a microphone. You connect a source or enter your details, review every draft, and approve what Anders should use. The microphone appears only in the optional practice conversation near the end.
Before you begin
Have your business basics handy: your address, hours, and the services you offer. You can also prepare customer-safe PDFs, policies, pricing sheets, or other business documents. If your business has a Google Business Profile, setup goes even faster, because we can fill most of this in for you.
Steps
- Your business. Connect your Google Business Profile and we fill in your name, address, hours, and services from your real listing. No profile? Enter them yourself. You can also add your website address here so Anders can learn your services and hours from it.
- Review and teach Anders. Review what RankLadder found, fill important gaps, and optionally upload PDFs, policies, pricing sheets, spreadsheets, or other supported documents. RankLadder organizes useful details into draft Q&A and Instructions. Review the source excerpt for each draft and approve only what Anders should use. Nothing becomes live Knowledge until you approve it.
- Pick your number. Choose the local phone number your AI answers on. Search by area code and pick the one you like. This is a new, dedicated number for your business. Your customers keep dialing your existing number; calls forward to this one when you can't answer.
- Choose your receptionist's voice. Listen to the named voice choices and pick what customers should hear on calls. A voice name labels the sound; it does not rename Anders or create a separate assistant. You can change it anytime later under Anders.
- Hear your receptionist in action. Have a quick practice conversation in the browser before any customer calls. Everything is safely simulated, so nothing real happens.
- Ready for your dashboard. That's it. Anders is ready. Select Go to RankLadder to open your dashboard, where one task remains: connecting your existing business line.
What happens next
Your AI can answer calls as soon as calls reach it. That takes one more thing: forwarding your existing number, which lives in Settings under Call Forwarding. Set it up, then call your business number from another phone. Your first call appears in your Inbox with a transcript and summary moments after you hang up.
If it does not work
- Left the wizard early? Just sign in again. It reopens at the step you left.
- Google connection didn't load your info? Enter the details yourself. Nothing is lost; you can connect Google later from the Connections page.
- Microphone trouble during the optional test? Allow microphone access and try again, or skip the test and finish setup.
